About Us
Hello! Im Angie.
I grew up on the beautiful Oregon Coast.
In 1998 I joined the United States Air Force. I traveled the world serving our Nation as a Carpenter and Welder. This experience gave me the great opportunity to learn about different cultures and see how each of them live and how to make some of the most amazing food I have ever eaten. After serving for 12 years I decided it was time to come home.
Upon returning to the Oregon Coast I met my wonderful husband Patrick and bought a farm. This wholesome life was the exact way I wanted to raise my son John. I immediately found that I had a passion for growing food, harvesting, preserving and making sure nothing went to waste. The items we grew on the farm are some of the ingredients used to make our products. The farm was an amazing producer, we had more than we could ever use. So an Apothecary was born.
Taking our Fire cider, Garlic Honey, Fermented Garlic (black garlic), smoked salts and our Vinegars produced at the farm to the Farmers market, gave me an opportunity to show everyone the things I learned while living overseas. One of our Flagship Products is Black garlic; a well used ingredient in Korean cuisine and something I was very familiar with, but knew it was rare in the United States let alone in small rural Oregon.
Quickly I outgrew the farmers market and needed a place more permanent, so I moved into a brick and mortar location. At 1500 square feet I quickly realized I needed more products. The concept of the Apothecary had always been there. Small, local, and high quality.
The Apothecary Roseburg specializes in Micro businesses. Companies that have 20 or fewer employees. Of course there will be exceptions to that rule with specialty companies I wanted to bring in such as Mountain Rose Herbs, Motail (non alcohol spirits) companies, and publishing. If it looks handmade, it is and it’s by one of the micro businesses. I knew after seeing how people were living over seas Fare trade was paramount. So if I purchase something from over seas, it will be a fare trade item giving the maker a living wage.
Because of my love for cooking and knowing how different ingredients affect the body. It was natural for me to take up herbalism. In 2024 I decided to start my journey to become an herbalist. Even though there isn’t a school to graduate from or a degree to obtain I wanted people to feel comfortable with what I was telling them regarding herbs and their uses so I enrolled in Chestnut School Of Herbal Medicine at the suggestion of Mountain Rose Herbs.
I am now making my own herbal teas, tinctures and tonics as well as some ingredients for culinary uses. I have just released a condiment line im very proud of.
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and learning a little about I cant wait to meet you and have wonderful conversations.
